Friends I’ve come from Madison and things are different there
A man can speak his mind and folks are treated pretty fair
But ten minutes in Philadelphia I was already in a brawl

The officer who arrested me he robbed me of my stash
I begged to be set free to which I offered him some cash
He chuckled at my offer and dropped me off at the mall
What he didn’t smoke he sold outside of Independence Hall

I went to NYC with a girl who followed me
from hospital to hospital for her chemotherapy
But when she pulled out her stuff don’t you know we had a ball
And we got so high and mighty outside Independence Hall

There’s a whole sub-culture, friends, of people just like me
And we won’t follow laws imposed by High Society
Still we’re mingling at yr parties and all along yr garden walls
While your kids are getting high with all yr servants down the hall
No this can’t go forever, one day this facade will fall
