Michael Merenda: News

I dig music - June 10, 2006

News is that playing music is fun. Have been enjoying singing whole sets of my songs with Ruthy for two nights in a row. Thursday night at Pete's I was inspired and entertained by Pierce Woodward, Milton and Miller Carr (and company) at Pete's candy store in Brooklyn. People, go see these artists if they ever come around yr town. These kids are not fucking around. They know what they're doing. Trust me. It's good music.

Tonight Ruth and I opened a show for her dad and step mom, Jay Ungar and Molly Mason. The concert was at the glorious Colony Cafe in Woodstock, NY and was a fund raiser for John Hall for congress. That's federal, folks. the real magilla. And John is kicking ass. If you live in NY and John Hall is running in yr district check him out. John Hall plays guitar, plays piano, writes songs, had a hit in the 70's, believes in alternative energy, and doesn't have to rely on a tele-prompter to deliver a beautiful and coherent speech. He also isn't afraid to point out the blatant inadequacies of the current administration. Nothing like home-grown folk music to get the word out to the people. Thanks to Jeff, Jess, Justin and Marianne at the Colony Cafe for hosting such a righteous event. Goodnight.
